One of the first families of pickleball — Julie, Jack, J.W. and Jorja Johnson — donated $600,000 to a new 12-court facility opening in their hometown of Pittsburg, Kansas. https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/ecnwXz4X

West Palm Beach is beefing over pickleball. In the Riverwalk community, a proposal to build six new hard courts has sparked a full-on civil war. Two resident factions. Competing LLCs. A real estate attorney convinced pickleball is a fad. CityPickle just announced its new HQ and flagship club inside the historic Paramount Theatre in Times Square. The 37,000-square-foot venue will feature seven courts, a full bar and restaurant, showers, and plenty of space for NYC’s most casual try-hards. Courted is our new event series built for the social-first pickleball player. The ones who come for the vibes, stay for the drinks, and maybe swap digits between points.

What do you do after getting smoked 0-15 by Zane Navratil? If you’re Aaron Trost, you start a nonprofit and bring pickleball to beginners, youth, veterans, and adaptive athletes. A must-read if you’ve ever wondered how much this sport can really do. https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gShZrDAj

Luka Dončić didn't just hit the weight room this off-season. He hit the pickleball court too. The newly minted Laker used the game to fuel his competitive drive. He might’ve lost a few matches, but not much else. Pickleball probably won’t fix a war. But it might help someone smile through it. Aaron Trost has taken the game to over 10 countries, including Ukraine. For many of the wounded, it’s become a lifeline. Alec and Stephen Baldwin will partake in a celebrity pickleball event on Lake Skaneateles, NY, to benefit cancer research in their late mother’s name, Carol M. Baldwin. Participating pros include Grayson Goldin, Hannah Blatt and Juan Benitez.

Is pickleball secretly helping tennis grow? Back in May, we looked into the surprising possibility that tennis’ recent boom might be tied to pickleball’s rise. We surveyed clubs across the country offering both sports. Most said the traffic is mostly one way: tennis players picking up pickleball, not the reverse. Still, there were some interesting exceptions. A few facilities told us that pickleball brought brand-new players into racquet sports and a handful of them went on to try tennis for the first time in years. (USTA) United States Tennis Association recently reported a record 25.7 million tennis players. Could pickleball be part of the reason? Read our full analysis here and tell us what you think. https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/enXWQt5k

Pickleball might be doing more for your mental health than your body. Back in April, a study surveyed over 18,000 recreational athletes and found that pickleball players experience depression at a rate 60% lower than the general population. The more often they played, the bigger the boost. It turns out the mix of movement, social interaction, and fun might be just as powerful as any workout routine. Why? Movement, social interaction, and fun all rolled into one. It’s not just cardio. It’s community. Another study found social sports cut depression symptoms by up to 34%. And with loneliness now considered a public health risk, that community matters more than ever. So next time you’re on the court, just know you might be doing more for your brain than you think. https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/ekGKX8xm
