Like browsers made the web accessible in 1989, model context protocol (MCP) represents a fundamental evolution towards an AI-powered web—one where AI agents are first-class citizens. On the Notable Capital Blog, Rares Crisan makes the case that MCP is the infrastructure play behind Web3's promise of a decentralized, user-owned internet. Web3 promised decentralization, user ownership, and interoperability. Model Context Protocol (MCP) might be the missing piece that makes it practical for the masses. The latest analysis from Rares Crisan explores why MCP represents the real Web3 opportunity—one that builds on existing infrastructure rather than replacing it. The biggest misconception in voice AI right now? That better models will replace the need for voice AI infrastructure. I’ve spent the last few months deep in the weeds and I’m betting the opposite is true. After extensive research and capital deployment in Voice AI, I am convinced that speech-to-speech models will strengthen the case for voice AI infrastructure companies. It will not eliminate infrastructure needs. This simply changes what these companies need to build. While speech-to-speech models solve the core intelligence problem, they create new gaps in enterprise deployment. Consider the reality of voice AI in production environments: What models provide: Natural conversation logic, reduced latency, real time audio processing What enterprises actually need: Compliance frameworks, sophisticated integrations, operational tooling, advanced analytics, and evaluations. The demo-to-production gap remains wide. Getting a voice agent to work in controlled conditions is straightforward. But deploying it reliably across mission-critical enterprise workflows with audit trails, CRM integrations, and regulatory compliance requires specialized expertise. As voice processing becomes commoditized, value shifts to platform orchestration that power vertical applications. It will be exciting to see which companies evolve quickly enough to capture the opportunity. Full article in the comments.

Notable Capital NextGen AI Fellowship Series Pt. 4 We had the privilege of hosting Garrett Lord, founder of Handshake, for a fireside chat moderated by Jeff Richards from Notable Capital. Together, they offered a masterclass on how to build a high-performing team in today’s rapidly changing AI landscape. Key Takeaways on Building High-Performing Teams in the AI Age: 🔹 Hire Early, Hire Smart: Bring in experienced leaders early. 🔹 Culture of Adaptability: Seed a culture that encourages employees to be flexible, resourceful, and open to shifting roles as the company evolves. 🔹 Trust and Alignment: Misalignment on vision and values in the early stages can derail a company, so trust and clear communication are foundational. 🔹 Empower Your Team: Foster autonomy and trust to build a culture of innovation. 🔹 Productive Disagreement: Diverse perspectives and tough conversations lead to better decision-making and faster growth. Insights from the VC Perspective: 💡 Investing in People: The best founders are those who have the vision and the ability to build a strong, adaptable team that can execute. 💡 Scaling and Timing: The market is rapidly evolving, and successful companies are those that can pivot and adapt quickly to new opportunities. A huge thanks to Garrett Lord for sharing his invaluable insights on team-building, leadership, and navigating the AI landscape. “I look for billion-dollar categories where legacy brands still have the lion’s share, but the consumer, especially women, is being overlooked. That’s where I build.” The incredible Michelle Cordeiro Grant is in Forbes talking about GORGIE and her transition from bras to beverages (her own type of B2B!). Check out Paul Klein IV (founder of Browserbase) on the latest episode of The New Stack with Frederic Lardinois & Alex Williams. Paul covers how Browserbase's open-source tool Stagehand enables AI agents to interpret vague, natural-language instructions and still function reliably—and his broader vision of a world where AI can fully operate the web on behalf of users, automating tasks like filing taxes without human input. AI agents need to browse the web, but traditional browser automation tools are too brittle for the job. That’s where Browserbase comes in. “At Browserbase, we help AI agents interact with the Internet,” Browserbase CEO and Founder Paul Klein IV told me. “So we provide the browser tool, which is an important tool, to let AI work on your behalf. When you think about all the work that you and I do every day, a lot of it happens on a browser, interacting with websites on the internet. So if we want to have this future where AI is going to help work on our behalf, we have to give AI the tools to interact with the work we already do, and that is the web browser.” https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/g26nxdUY

Some of the best enterprise infrastructure companies start as beloved open source projects. NetBox Labs is a perfect example. What began as a side project in 2016 has evolved into the most trusted network infrastructure platform in the enterprise. The project's growth has been remarkable - from solving internal network documentation challenges to becoming the source of truth for Fortune 500 network infrastructure. CEO Kris Beevers and his team have executed flawlessly on the transition from open source to commercial success. Rather than abandoning their community roots, they've doubled down on engagement while building products that extend real value to enterprise customers. As enterprises scale AI workloads and GPU infrastructure, NetBox Labs is perfectly positioned to capture this massive opportunity. We're excited to continue our decade-long partnership with Kris and the team. Our investment thesis: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/dUKxbDmE
