Online-only car sales hit 5% in July—a new record. That’s 5x the typical monthly average (~1%). Breakdown: - June saw the largest drop in CDK’s Ease of Purchase metrics in over three years - There was a healthy return to normal in July…with the online-only stat standing out Historically, EV buyers are more open to buying sight unseen (~5%) overall with 9% of Tesla buyers purchasing fully online (lower than expected) according to CDK’s most recent EV reporting. But now it seems more shoppers of all powertrains are considering the option. What’s it mean? Most buyers still want to visit the dealership—but more are skipping it altogether.
