A new chapter in our company history of Uhde High Pressure Technologies just started with our new Piping & Logistics Center in Dortmund, Germany 2025 marks a milestone as we officially start production at our new facility with 8,500sqm. Last week I had the opportunity to visit the site with our leadership team and to see the progress firsthand. What stood out most was the team on the ground. They’ve quickly adapted to the new environment, showing great motivation, organization, and collaboration. Truly a group of pioneers and heroes making this center their own. Supercritical CO₂ extraction: The new standard in protein powder production? The demand for functional, high-purity proteins - whether from whey, hemp or sunflowers - is growing rapidly. However, as quality standards increase, new purification processes are moving into the focus of the food industry. While traditional cold pressing is primarily mechanical and fatty acids often remain in the press cake, supercritical CO₂ extraction enables particularly gentle and precise deoiling of protein raw materials. This can be particularly important for use in high-performance sport and for people with food intolerances. Lipid oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids leads to sensory defects and potentially health-relevant degradation products (e.g. aldehydes). HPP (High Pressure Processing) revolutionizes food safety and extends shelf life by applying up to 6,000 bar of pressure to food products. This in-pack method preserves nutrients and vitamins, as well as the original taste, while inactivating harmful bacteria.
