I feel like I didn't know Austin until I joined Riverwatch and that the whole new world opened up to me. We work with high school youth around Austin is really exposing students and youth to outdoor activities that they wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to do so that way their interest and the outdoors and green careers. This ignited. When I started being involved with Riverwatch. I remember first time that I ever went camping and making friends there. Now being able to pick up the students and take them to that. They connect in that way with the city that they're growing up, and that's very important for us. Yes, we do help the environment, but our primary goal is for the students to ignite that stewardship in them. I onboarded a new student and I just saw how much she enjoyed River Watch. I remember having conversations with her and she was like, I feel free. This is why I get up every day. This is why the city is now different because of that work that we're doing.
