It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Founder and Proprietor, Bill Stoller. Bill was the cornerstone of everything we do. He believed in making exceptional wine, treating people with respect, and caring for the land that made it all possible. His vision helped shape the Oregon wine industry—not through flash or trends, but through consistency, integrity, and heart. He looked far ahead when he built this company—setting a 200-year vision grounded in sustainability, innovation, and community. And he inspired us to believe in that future, too. “Bill was more than an entrepreneur,” said our president, Gary Mortensen. “He was a mentor, a friend, and someone who believed deeply in creating opportunity for others. He would want us to keep going.” That’s exactly what we’ll do—continue the work he started, grow what he built, and carry forward the values he lived by. His legacy lives on in this land, this team, and the future we’re still building.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Bill Stoller, visionary owner of Stoller Wine Group, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Oregon Wine Board! This prestigious award celebrates his decades of dedication to advancing Oregon’s wine industry through innovation, sustainability, and an unwavering respect for the land. Bill’s journey began with his family's farm, which is now home to Stoller Family Estate. His belief in Oregon's potential to produce world-class wines led to transformative contributions: planting Chardonnay in 1995 when few saw its promise, building the world’s first LEED Gold-certified winery, and becoming an early adopter of B Corp principles. His efforts have not only elevated Oregon wines internationally but have also inspired sustainable growth across the region. Reflecting on the honor, Bill shared, "Being a part of the Oregon wine story has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Every time I pour a bottle of our wine, I share a piece of my home. I am grateful for the opportunity to help build our industry, making this honor all the more meaningful." This recognition follows another prestigious award Bill received last year—the Diploma of Honor from the Fédération Internationale des Confréries Bachiques, recognizing his global contributions to winemaking excellence.
