As temperatures soar, people experiencing homelessness are among the most vulnerable to heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heatstroke. Here are 5 lifesaving tips to help someone stay safe in extreme heat: 1. Stay in the shade or indoors during peak sun hours (10am–4pm) 2. Drink water often — even before feeling thirsty 3. Avoid heavy clothing and wear light-colored, loose fabrics 4. Rest frequently and avoid strenuous activity 5. Watch for signs of heat illness: nausea, dizziness, confusion, or cramps If you see someone in distress, call 911 and offer water if you can. This summer, help us keep families safe from the heat. Please join us in congratulating our amazing CDA Class of 2025! These dedicated women completed their national Child Development Associate certifications and are now ready to begin careers in Early Childhood Education — helping nurture and guide children during the most important years of their development. Our 5-month, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited CDA program offers free training, a paid internship, and all the tools needed to launch a rewarding career.
