What I’m Seeing in the Fitness Space: A 2024 Wrap-Up As we close out 2024, I wanted to reflect on some fascinating trends shaping the fitness industry this year. These shifts highlight just how much the conversation around movement, health, and longevity has evolved: 💪 The Rise of Progressive Strength Training This year, we saw a 10X increase in enrollment for progressive strength training programs compared to 2023. Women are embracing strength training as a vital tool for maintaining and building muscle mass—not just for longevity, but also in response to conversations around peri-menopause and menopause and the pivotal role strength plays in hormone regulation. Additionally, the rise of GLP-1s has sparked greater awareness and education around the importance of muscle maintenance, further fueling interest in strength training. (Shout-out to Rekha Kumar, M.D, M.S. and Melody Zoller for their invaluable guidance in creating MuscleGuard—the first progressive strength program designed specifically for this audience and a true game-changer in the market!) 🚺 Women’s Hormone Health is Having a Major Moment! The evolving dialogue around hormones and fitness has been transformational. For many of us, our knowledge of hormones has traditionally been tied to fertility, but there’s so much more to uncover—especially when we consider the data emerging from female performance athletes. I’m incredibly excited about the innovation and breakthroughs we’re likely to see in this space moving forward! If you don’t already, follow Stacy T. Sims, PhD and fellow entrepreneur Helene Guillaume Pabis. Special thanks to Yacha Toueg, Sevinna Z., Miguel Correia, Samantha Gilbert and Kseniya Sovenko 🇺🇦 for their tireless work in building Cycle Insights at obé Fitness. 📱 Digital Fitness is Here to Stay Covid accelerated the adoption of digital fitness, and its convenience cannot be unseen. Engagement levels remain as high as they were during the pandemic! 🧘♀️ Movement as Mindfulness This year brought significant growth in stretch and recovery classes as cultural attitudes around movement continue to evolve. More people are recognizing movement as a form of mindfulness and enrichment, rather than solely focusing on pushing limits through high-intensity cardio or extreme workouts. It’s been inspiring to watch these trends reshape how we approach fitness, health, and well-being. What trends or changes in fitness have stood out to you this year? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #FitnessTrends #Healthspan #StrengthTraining #Mindfulness #DigitalFitness
