Meet Shayne, Nucor Rebar Fabrication Regional Safety Supervisor. 👋 After serving 22 years in the U.S. Army, Shayne knows true safety means more than following rules. It means knowing the people around you and paying attention when something feels off. As he puts it, “You can't tell when they're having an off day if you don't actually know them in the first place.” For Shayne, building a culture of safety means encouraging teammates to show up as their authentic selves. When people feel seen and known beyond their job titles, it creates space for honest conversations and early intervention when someone may be struggling. It’s about creating a workplace where people feel safe to speak up, and where others are paying close enough attention to notice when they don’t. Shayne's passion for mental health is personal and powerful. His story is a reminder that at Nucor, safety isn’t just about steel-toed boots and hard hats. It’s about people. It’s about family. And it’s about showing up for each other, fully.

We appreciated the opportunity to host Congressman Don Davis at Nucor Steel Hertford County last week! During his visit, our teammates shared how Nucor’s work strengthens national security, drives economic growth, and supports communities in eastern North Carolina. As an Air Force veteran and co-chair of the bipartisan For Country Caucus, Congressman Davis champions service, mission and collaboration - values embodied by our teammates every day. 🇺🇸
