What a pleasure it was to host the Tjuana Byrd Summer Interns, along with board members and staff of the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas, for a tour of Big River Steel, followed by lunch and a panel discussion with some of our own incredible women leaders. We were especially honored to welcome the distinguished Judge Tjuana Byrd- Manning, for whom the internship program is named. Her presence made the day even more meaningful. It was an inspiring afternoon of connection, conversation, and empowerment—an experience we’re proud to be part of as we support the next generation of women leaders in Arkansas and beyond.

On June 7, approximately 125 BRS team members came together to participate in and volunteer for the inaugural Big River Steel Strong Charity Cup. Despite the weather, nearly 100 team members hit the course with enthusiasm, proving that not even a little rain could dampen our spirit of giving. Thanks to the incredible support from our team and generous vendors, BRS and BRS Cares proudly presented a check for $115,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Mid-South. This contribution will help bring joy and hope to children facing critical illnesses. A special highlight of the day was hearing from a Make-A-Wish Mid-South alumni family whose story reminded us all of the real impact behind our efforts.

BOLD was the word of the day—and the theme that resonated throughout last week’s Women’s Leadership Conference at Arkansas State University. During her keynote, Lenore Trammell, Chief Administrative Officer at Big River Steel, reminded us that “Boldness is not easy, but it is always worth it.” She challenged every person in the room to consider: What will your bold move be? A timely reminder that growth, change, and impact all begin with courage.

Big River Steel is thrilled to partner with the Memphis Grizzlies to bring the Read to Achieve program to Mississippi County, Arkansas schools! We recently kicked off this exciting initiative at Seminole Stadium at Osceola High School, where over 1,200 students and educators joined us for the "Tip-Off" event! This program is designed for 3rd-5th grade students, and we're proud to say that every school in Mississippi County is participating. This year's theme? Readers are Leaders!
