    I have to give a shout out to my friends and collaborators at Niche for helping us bring in a record class this year! Just this morning, I was visiting with families who are attending orientation and I asked one of the students from the DFW area why she chose Houston Christian University. Her response was that she was using Niche for her college search and that HCU found her and made an offer that she could not refuse. She has no idea what Direct Admit is or how it works, but she clearly felt pursued and wanted by HCU; and so did another 120+ incoming freshmen who benefited from our Niche Direct Admit campaign! It has been such a blessing to work with Catie Clark, Kate Christensen, Mikayla Callery, Brooke Urban, Ryan Bell, Luke Skurman, and so many others.     Post-secondary education is a proven multiplier to lifetime earning potential. But for many high-school students, the sometimes-ominous process of applying to college is a significant barrier. So the Foundation in 2024 awarded a grant to the PASSHE Foundation, to enable students to more easily apply to the schools of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education–learning almost instantly if they are accepted, and even if they are eligible for a merit scholarship. The innovative direct-admission process is achieved through a partnership with Niche, a Pittsburgh-based technology company founded by Luke Skurman. The Foundation funds the initiative through its Economic Mobility program, which seeks to give all youth in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties access to their most promising future.
