  • The Infant/Toddler team comprised of coaches Alicia Lemus and Madeleine Sebastien and Infant/Toddler Coordinator Maja Jevgjovikj hosted the final Infant/Toddler Curriculum Professional Learning Community (PLC) of the year in-person at MNC Alegria Campus. After a successful year of inviting teachers to share their learnings and experiences over Zoom, staff from six campuses came together to mingle, celebrate and reflect on what was a transformative year for the MNC Infant/Toddler program. This past program year, MNC adopted and implemented a new curriculum for Infants and Toddlers called the "Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) Curriculum". The goal was for our teachers to intentionally plan learning experiences based on children's individual development and innate interests. In the year 2024-2025, over 25 staff members were trained in this new model, and at our event they shared real classroom documentation on the successes of their implementation. As we shared pictures and lesson plans from each campus, many teachers offered praise to one another, even stating they were eager to bring each other's ideas back into their classroom. The engagement, connection and camaraderie of being gathered in-person was unparalleled to meeting over Zoom, and we are incredibly excited about creating more in-person experiences for teachers during the next program year. Thank you to the Campus Leads who made it possible for their staff to join us for this special event! Next time we will have a bigger space as we did not anticipate such a fantastic turnout! Another huge thank you to Alicia for her amazing co-facilitation and Maja for all her hard work with coordinating the Program for Infant/Toddler Care this year! I'm so proud of our team! • A Picture Day was held at MNC Helen Fabela Chavez Campus! It was an internal event for our teachers and children to celebrate the end of the school year. We wanted to make some memories with the children before they transition to Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten. We started out as a whole group and then got divided by classroom starting from infants all the way to preschoolers. It was so nice to see most of the children dressed up for "Picture Day". • MNC CEO Richard Ybarra visited campuses to have an open forum for community issues and anything else going on with the campuses and staff. Communication with all the campuses helps bridge the gap between leadership and MNC staff. It keeps everyone connected and united so we can continue to grow MNC and stay on top of our staff’s questions, comments and concerns. Richard visited Helen Fabela Chavez Campus, Stevenson Campus, Alegria Campus, Mission Bay Campus, Harrison and 24th Street Campus, Bryant Campus, Alemany Campus, Quesada Campus, Bernal Campus and Mission Campus and was impressed by the commitment of the staff to our children, each other, and our community. Thank you to the MNC campuses for hosting Richard and see you all again soon! • 13+ families, and their children were welcomed to the MNC Valencia Campus Open House! Families in attendance received a tote bag with our enrollment flyers and a brochure of our services. Children enjoyed activities like the bubble machine, face painting and coloring while parents toured the classrooms, met the MNC staff, and enjoyed taking home free children’s books and eating delicious food from Venga Empanadas. There was a booth run by Trinh Tang and Claudia Aguilar to provide rental assistance resources to parents and our own MNC Board Member Paul Kleinbaum and Graham Dobson, Senior Policy Analyst with the SF Department of Early Childhood (DEC), came by to support and commend the outreach efforts. There was also a raffle and prizes for the families. Thank you to the MNC Valencia Campus Team Tina Samual, Sal Mana, Mercedes Paredes, Angelica Islas, Reina Orellana, Maria Martinez, Silvia Vallecillo, Jaquelyne Moreno, and Laronda Levias for hosting a great open house. Thank you Efrain Sandoval, Mariana Romero, Valeria Aguillon for managing the food and welcome/enrollment table and to the MNC staff that came to support our early education campuses! • MNC CEO Richard Ybarra and Consul General Ana Luisa Vallejo Barba enjoyed a farewell lunch at Wayfare Tavern in a far reaching and intriguing discussion, that included our on-going close working relationship with the Mexican Consulate, highlights of her one-year tenure in San Francisco, economics and other salient topics of our times. It is interesting to note that San Francisco was her first USA appointment in a 30-year career. Consul General Vallejo expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the SF Community, especially the nonprofit sector, that was so welcoming and accommodating to her and her consulate team. In a short time period Ana Luisa Vallejo made a great impression and made many friendships in the City. The life of international diplomats takes many turns and we in San Francisco, were fortunate to have her company and leadership on the many issues in which she and the consulate participated and in the exciting and fun cultural events we sponsored together, like El Grito 2024 and Gourmex 2025. MNC first welcomed the Consul General to San Francisco in our Liliana Rossi Theater on August 22nd 2024 and we are glad we got to build a great relationship with her and her team. Thank you, Ana Luisa Vallejo, for all that you do and we hope to see you again soon! We wish her well and God's blessings in her new assignment and adventures. We look forward to welcoming the next consul general! • 12 participants from MNC HADS (Healthy Aging and Disability Services) graduated from the Senior Vitality program, provided by the Curry Senior Center, designed to support older adults in building their digital literacy. Participants who complete the two-year program receive a tablet and take technology literacy classes in Spanish. This cohort was especially meaningful, as it was the first group to complete the program in Spanish. Participants met once a week and received tech support in Spanish. They learned to use their tablets for everyday tasks such as making appointments with their doctors, using Zoom and social media, searching the internet, and navigating basic apps and tools. Recent graduates will now stay engaged by once a month Zoom meetings and once a month in person over the next year. Congratulations to our graduates Adelaida Moreno, Bernadita Camacho, Elena Raygoza, Gabriela Quehl, Gabriela Ramirez, Jorge Ramos, Lilia Cardenas, Luisa Justo Dongo, Matilde Flores, Rosa Amelia Romero, Rosa Rubio, and Rosario Perez. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and excited to welcome the next group of participants! • Seven Corps Members and a dozen MNC staff took part in last year’s MNC Climate Corps Pilot Reunion. We honored and celebrated them and their supervisor Martin Portillo with music, food, pizza and lots of great feedback and comments on the impact of the Climate Corps program. The seven veteran MNC Climate Corps members were gathered to help MNC gauge the need and interest of San Francisco youth in a permanent MNC Climate Corps. CEO Richard Ybarra commented that “MNC’s Climate Corps pilot was the finest he has witnessed. Their work projects were in places like Alcatraz Island, Slide Ranch, Pacifica State Beach, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Corona Heights doing beach cleanups, planting, trail clearance and even bee keeping. Corps members enjoyed reuniting with each other and sharing their feedback and experiences with us. Thank you to the Climate Corps Stewards and MNC staff for attending this reunion and taking part in meaningful work to better our environment and provide our youth with workforce opportunities.
