Welcome Austin Shwatal to Lochmueller Group! After interning with our team in Champaign during the school year, Austin is now joining us full-time in the St. Louis office as a Traffic Modeler. He recently completed both his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Statistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with a minor in Urban Planning. In his new role, Austin will develop regional travel demand models to forecast future transportation needs and contribute his analytical skills to projects like comprehensive safety action plans. His passion for transportation began in college through urban planning courses—one of which was taught by Lochmueller’s own M Sharif Ullah, PE, PTP—where he discovered how statistics can make a real-world impact on mobility, safety, and efficiency. Bonus: His favorite movie is Moneyball, and he’s team cyclist when it comes to getting around. Heading back home from my first #ESRIUserConference! This has been a goal of mine to attend for the past several years! I had a great week learning in technical sessions about collecting Vertical Assets, learning ways to collect Lead Service Assets and ideas on how to start digital twins and utility networks! Also, enjoyed networking with several people from around the work that are also integrating GIS into CAD. We shared and also came up with improved workflows to help each other at each of our companies. I was also able to link up with Cinda B.. We have worked together for the last several years and this is the first chance we’ve got to meet in person. Cinda has been very innovative in creating GIS geoprocessing, aerial imagery processing, and working in ArcGIS Online. She is a true professional and look forward to continuing to work with her. Thankful for Lochmueller Group for investing in me to spend the week learning and bringing back ideas! Lochmueller has always incouraged innovativeness to help create quicker workflows for more accurate information to give the best deliverable to our clients. Thank you again for the opportunity!
