This morning, Indy DPW Director Todd Wilson joined Mayor Joe Hogsett to cut the ribbon on the $19.6 million Michigan and New York Two-Way Conversion Project. We couldn't have made this project happen without the help of IndyGo and we thank them for their partnership! Following the morning commute on August 11, contractors will work block-by-block to start removing construction barrels on New York Street. On August 12, they'll begin removing barrels on Michigan Street between Highland Avenue and East Pleasant Run Parkway. The rest of Michigan Street will open to two-way traffic at a later date following completion of necessary work by CSX. Contractors will still be working in the area on some final items, but this roadway is about to open up again! ✏️ Design: A & F Engineering Group, Inc. 🚧 Construction: Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. 🔎 Inspection: Egis

East Brunswick Avenue is now open to traffic with newly completed roadway upgrades! This includes installation of a brand-new culvert! Replacing the culvert was essential due to the deteriorated condition of the previous infrastructure. This project addresses the standing water issues residents have been experiencing while also preserving the roadway for years to come. Learn more about Indy DPW projects here: Indy.gov/DPWProjects. For the past decade, around 90 homes in the Rosedale Hills community have been impacted by chronic drainage issues. Indy DPW is almost finished with constructing phase two of a $13 million drainage improvement project that will mitigate those issues. Once completed, residents can expect fewer flooded yards, safer streets, and longer-lasting roadway surfaces. Improved drainage not only protects homes, but it also raises property values by reducing floodplain exposure and boosts neighborhood connectivity. Stay tuned as we continue to give updates on DPW projects happening across Marion County! Learn more about Indy DPW projects here: Indy.gov/dpwprojects. Earlier this week, CMAA Indiana hosted a tour of the Henry Street Bridge project. More than 70 people from across the industry joined to see the progress and learn about the work behind the scenes. The new bridge will make it easier to travel across the White River, whether you're walking, biking, or driving. It will also help reduce traffic and connect neighborhoods on both sides. Thanks to the teams working on this project, including @BF&S, WSP, Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, F.A. Wilhelm Construction, Beaty Construction, and City of Indianapolis - Department of Public Works (Indy DPW). We also appreciate the contributions from Garmong Construction, E&B Paving, Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc., CRT CONCRETE CONSULTING, LLC, IMI Concrete, @Shelby Ready Mix, S & J Excavation and Concrete LLC, Infrastructure Engineering Inc., Etica Group, Redemption Engineering, DECORATIVE PAVING INC, Midwest Landscaping Inc, and TC Electric. Exciting things are happening in Indianapolis!
