Jordan & Skala knows how to engineer fun! Last night, our Dallas team traded REVIT files for catered chicken and questionable athleticism. We kicked off the evening with a comfort-food feast (yes, there was mac & cheese), then jumped into a series of hilarious, embarrassing, and team-bonding games that required brains, brawn, and bravery. Your evening host, yours truly— Andrew —had the joy of watching engineers become human pretzels, compete in ridiculous relays, and somehow turn teamwork into an extreme sport. From puzzling challenges, we learned two things: 1. Engineers are surprisingly competitive. 2. Physical aptitude is debatable after dessert. Big thanks to everyone who came out—we proved again that at Jordan & Skala Engineers, we build more than buildings. We build culture - and we have FUN! #TeamJSE #GameNight #CultureMatters #EngineersHavingFun #DallasOfficeVibes

We recently helped a client earn $62,412 through the CenterPoint utility program with no extra effort beyond what was already planned for the project. Episode #2 | When the Rules Change, the Benefits Don’t: Green Building If you aren’t checking for utility incentives, tax breaks, or local green perks, you’re likely missing out. Federal rollbacks are making headlines, but jurisdictional and city-level incentives are still alive and well. The real issue? Too many developers overlook them simply because they, or their consultants, don’t know where to look. Don’t let that be you. 🎧 Watch the full episode: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gyQQugHD #EngineeringPodcast #GreenBuilding #EnergyEfficiency #UtilityIncentives

We enjoyed sponsoring and joining Legacy Partners’ property tour and open house of the new Araceli development, hosted by Colorado BUILT. JSE is proud to provide three core services, MEP Engineering, Sustainability, and Low Voltage to Araceli. 💡Fun Fact: As Denver continues its push toward building electrification and reducing natural gas reliance, Araceli stands as one of the last two projects JSE Denver designed with a gas-fired central hot water system. This system serves both the domestic hot water and the hydronic HVAC systems in the dwelling units, capturing a moment in time just before the shift to fully electrified systems became the new standard. 📷 Photography By: Tim Gormley

Utility bills haven’t gone anywhere, and jurisdictional requirements are still in effect. Episode #2 | When the Rules Change, the Benefits Don’t: Green Building Recent federal policy shifts under The One, Big, Beautiful Bill have some developers asking: Do we still need to prioritize energy efficiency or green building practices? The short answer is yes. Whether through formal green programs or smart design decisions, energy efficiency still makes financial sense regardless of federal policy changes. 🎧 Watch the full episode: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/eh8NJ5ed #EngineeringPodcast #GreenBuilding #EnergyEfficiency #UtilityIncentives

Engineering News-Record has released its Market Lists for the Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook, and JSE ranked #18 in the Mixed-Use category for the Top Design Firms! 🎉 Mixed-use projects are among the most complex and rewarding in the industry. They bring together diverse building types into a unified, master-planned vision, demanding adaptability, technical precision, and a deep understanding of how spaces work together. Each project area comes with its own set of challenges, requiring agile, cross-disciplinary teams to deliver success at every turn. From The Battery in Atlanta, GA, to Regent Square in Houston, TX, Downtown Superior in Denver, CO, and now game-changing developments like Centennial Yards, featuring COSM’s immersive shared-reality experience, JSE has played a key role in shaping some of the most vibrant mixed-use destinations in major U.S. cities. We take pride in contributing to the places where people gather, live, and connect. As consulting engineers, our work may often go unseen, but it’s essential to making these environments safe, comfortable, and built to last. These experiences have sharpened our agility, strengthened our expertise, and prepared us to continue driving innovation in this evolving market. We'd like to express our heartfelt thanks to our incredible team and trusted clients. Your collaboration and commitment power our continued progress. #MixedUse #Engineers #ENRTop500 #EngineeringNewsRecord #TopDesignSourcebook

We’re proud to have supported the completion of Touchmark at Emerald Lake, a continuing care retirement community designed to meet the evolving wellness and care needs of its residents. Our team delivered Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection services, along with HVAC and lighting commissioning, to ensure a safe, comfortable environment across both independent living and health services areas. Projects like this demand not only technical knowledge but also adaptability and collaboration. From navigating design iterations to responding to site-specific challenges, we stayed focused on delivering smart, resilient solutions. When a historic Texas freeze caused a pipe to burst during construction, our team moved quickly, working with field teams to identify a fix and keep the project moving. Later, when a proposed high-rise classification threatened the project timeline and budget, we collaborated with local authorities to reach a resolution that maintained both code compliance and constructability. The result is a thoughtfully engineered environment that supports quality of life and well-being, which are key elements in health service design. From concept to completion, Touchmark at Emerald Lake reflects the collaboration, problem-solving, and engineering expertise required to bring a vision to life. Project Highlights: 💡 Memory care units on the lower level, assisted living on the upper level, and independent living throughout the facility 💡 VRF system for energy-efficient heating and cooling 💡 Rooftop dedicated outside air unit to manage ventilation Architect: three architecture General Contractor: ANDRES Construction Services Developer: Touchmark Read more about this project on our website here: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/g-aij_xx #MEPEngineering #McKinneyTexas #Texas #Touchmark #EmeraldLake #EngineeringExcellence #HealthServices Dallas Project Leaders: Josh Wiley, PE, Corey Hewitt EIT, LEED AP, CBCP, Eric Chase and Khalid El Hefni, PE 📷 Copyright Photography by: Richard L. A2L transitions can affect net-rentable space, but does it always have to be a loss? Episode 1 | MEP Industry Disruptors Our team has been working with jurisdictions to find alternative compliance pathways to meet the demands of A2L while also preserving net rentable space. We’ve had successes, but we’ve also been rejected. That has not stopped us from continuing to educate jurisdictions about IMC Chapter 11 vs. ASHRAE 15 and fighting for the preservation of net rentable space for our clients. The drastic variations between jurisdictions require a national, cross-functional engineering team to help navigate these discussions. We’re proud to be that resource. Registered in all 50 states and at the forefront of A2L transitions, previously with DX split systems and now with VRF systems, we’re here to help with any project. Watch the full episode: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gVpjgqii A special thank you to one of our episode partners and great teammates, Carrier HVAC. In 1902, Willis Carrier invented modern air conditioning, a breakthrough that brilliantly solved a unique customer challenge, fundamentally changing the world and the ways people live in it. Carrying on Willis's tradition of innovation, Carrier is creating the future of indoor environments today. #MEPEngineering #EngineeringPodcasts #MEPDisruptors #A2L #VRFSystems
