Who We Are Since its small beginning in 1928, GPSA has grown to today’s organization of nearly 500 companies engaged in meeting the supply and service needs of the midstream industry. The gas processing industry had its origin in the pioneering efforts of compressor manufacturers who developed the compression process for extraction of natural gasoline from casinghead gas. A number of today's major liquids producers owe their start to lines of credit extended by early supply and service firms. The atmosphere of cooperation in industry affairs, and the GPA Midstream associate status that goes with GPSA membership, makes the producer-supplier relationship a true partnership in industry progress. The GPSA Engineering Data Book, recognized as a valuable resource around the world, is an excellent example of the cooperative producer-supplier relationship of the GPA Midstream-GPSA organizations. Because research plays an important role in the midstream industry, GPSA assists the GPA Midstream Association Research Program and also contributes to the future of the industry by providing funds for undergraduate engineering scholarships, as well as professorships at colleges with natural gas programs. To date, GPSA has contributed more than $800,000 to the future of the industry. Today, GPSA companies provide a multitude of services and supplies to the midstream industry. Each year, hundreds of GPSA members join more than 2,000 representatives from midstream operating companies and their own service and supplier peers at the annual GPA Midstream Convention held in April in the United States, creating an open forum to share midstream research, standards and business exchanges. GPSA is located in Tulsa, Okla., where it has operated since its beginning.

GPA Midstream released the following statement: GPA Midstream Association applauds introduction of the bipartisan Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act, which takes meaningful steps to modernize and streamline the federal permitting process. Thanks to Rep. Representative Bruce Westerman (R-AR-4) and Representative Jared Golden (D-ME-2) for their leadership. The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has become unnecessarily cumbersome and needs to be reformed. This legislation will help do just that, accelerating the development of critical energy infrastructure. This bill will also help ensure special interest groups can’t use the courts to stop energy infrastructure construction, which has been done in the past. We commend US Congress for recognizing the need for durable permitting reform that balances environmental stewardship with economic growth. GPA Midstream released the following statement: GPA Midstream appreciates the actions the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken to ensure practical application of “Standards of Performance for New, Reconstructed, and Modified Sources and Emissions Guidelines for Existing Sources: Oil and Natural Gas Sector Climate Review Final Rule.” The recognition of the unreasonable timelines and the willingness to adjust to more reasonable expectations is appreciated by operators of midstream oil and natural gas companies. Over the past several years, GPA Midstream has engaged the EPA on the “Quad O” series of emissions standards for the oil and natural gas production sector. Numerous GPA Midstream members are subject to those rules, including the latest iteration – Subpart OOOOb – which was promulgated last year. GPA Midstream has raised concerns with what was promulgated. While the deadline extension is appreciated, the association also hopes the agency will focus on making sure environmental regulations are practical and fit-for-purpose for midstream oil and natural gas operators.
