  • Over the last few weeks, been tinkering with my son to develop an AI agent that creates a custom podcast for our commute. He obviously built one around fantasy football (may steal that one as well) and mine is around the latest in tech news. The experience working with him has been priceless. Though it isn't the traditional father/son bonding of going to a baseball game or watching a movie together - we got to spend time and build on each other's strengths. More importantly we helped each other navigate our weaknesses. We all know AI is coming. No one knows the extent. But good to remember the human element won't go away - cherish the time.

  • Appreciate all the well wishes on my new position at Emagine. For the record, I am not going anywhere. Just as involved but focusing more on the tech stuff and letting the real "G" Cedric Sims take over. Funny story, I call Cedric "Liam" - an ode to the movie Taken and Cedric having a special set of skills. He really does. Looking forward to being a soldier and supporting him no matter what.

  • I’ve been thinking about how we build tech that actually works for people. Keep it simple and open. When we design systems that are easy to understand and flexible, we let all people involved the opportunity tojump in and create something new. Similar to playing with Legos, we need to give people the basic blocks and let their own thoughts and ingenutiy drive what gets built within the framework of basic requirements. I’ve seen how overcomplicated tech can slow things down, especially in public sector projects. But when we focus on clear, extensible platforms, innovation happens naturally. It’s not about flashy features; it’s about building a foundation that invites collaboration and grows with us.

  • We're proud to announce a new chapter in Emagine IT's journey: Cedric Sims has been appointed as our Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1. Cedric brings 25+ years of leadership experience in driving scalable digital transformation across the public and private sectors. Most recently, he led enterprise integration and AI-led mission-focused innovations at MITRE— guiding efforts that shaped strategic competition, secured data strategies, and mission-critical IT services for government agencies. Cedric joins EIT at a time of immense opportunity in federal IT. As he puts it: "EIT serves as a nexus for digital transformation— connecting proven, industry-leading capabilities with the urgent needs of federal agencies. Through plug-and-play innovations and scalable solutions, we accelerate adoption, amplify impact, and enable government leaders to extend limited resources in service of mission-critical outcomes." Grateful to founder and outgoing CEO Aamir Saleem and co-founder and president Song Pak. Aamir will continue leading innovation strategy and growth at EIT, while Song expands our private sector capabilities. 🔗 https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/eAPbJbb6

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Networking 101 workshop hosted by Emagine IT, Inc., and I left feeling so motivated! Huge thanks to CEO Aamir S., CTO Bilal B., SGO Jeremy, and Network Architect Alain Bileg for dropping so much wisdom. What really stuck with me is that many of them came from completely different backgrounds. It was the reminder I didn’t know I needed: it’s never too late to start something new. What we covered: 1. An overview of career paths across the IT world and how flexible those routes can be 2. A deep dive into what a network engineer actually does on a day-to-day basis 3. The ins and outs of designing, deploying, and maintaining networks 4. Tools, skills, and steps to break into network engineering (with or without a traditional background) 5. How AI and automation are already reshaping the field and how to get ahead of it. I came to the event with a whole list of questions. Didn’t even need to ask one. They hit every single topic I was wondering about without me having to say a word. That’s how you know they really understand the people they’re speaking to. A big personal takeaway for me: You don’t need to have it “all figured out” to get started. Passion. Consistency. Curiosity. That’s the magic combo. Funny enough, I had been working on a little machine learning project but kinda abandoned it. After this session? I felt that spark again. I picked that project right on up and continued on from where I left off. Sometimes all you need is a little reminder of why you started. Major shoutout to Emagine IT, Inc. for creating a space that actually supports newcomers. That’s rare, in my personal experience, and deserves recognition. If you’re thinking about pivoting into tech, whether it’s networking, cybersecurity, or anything in between... DO IT. You don’t have to know everything to get started. Just start. 💻🚀

I had a great time at the Emagine IT, Inc. IT Risk Framework Workshop! We went through each step of the NIST RMF, the key documents used at each stage, and even how risk varies across different industries. It was a really insightful breakdown of how organizations manage risk and compliance in different environments. Another highlight was the discussion on Claiming your strengths, inspired by Marcus Buckingham’s work. From there, we pivoted into exploring the different roles in technology—connecting strengths to career paths and showing how to apply them in real-world roles. Big thanks to the team for the knowledge and discussions.
