Meet Patrick, an MBA candidate at Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! 👋 A seasoned professional in Washington, D.C. with over 15 years of consulting experience, Patrick had just turned 48 years old when he decided to go back to school. Now, he's not just a student—he’s an ambassador helping others find their path. “I wake up excited every day,” he says. “Even just talking about this program reignites my passion for learning.” 🧠 Patrick became hooked on Gies after taking open courses in Accounting and Statistics. “The more I learned, the more I realized this was the right fit. The iMBA is truly ‘online by design.’ They’ve done an amazing job crafting an interactive, community-driven experience.” 🧑🤝🧑 Community and engagement were high on Patrick’s list of needs. Now, through meetups, group projects, and networking events, he’s built meaningful relationships around the world. “I’m surrounded by 400-500 of my best friends. The global networking opportunities are phenomenal.” 🚀 As a program manager, Patrick’s leadership and strategic management courses have reshaped his approach to team engagement, client interactions, and planning, while exposure to new concepts have broadened his cross-functional communication skills. “I’ve been in business for a while, but this program forces me to be more concise and strategic in my writing and decision-making.” Ready to take the next step in your career? The EU Artificial Intelligence Act has arrived—and its impact will extend far beyond European borders. Much like how GDPR transformed global approaches to data privacy, this legislation establishes the world's first comprehensive legal framework for AI development and deployment, including a requirement that organizations ensure "a sufficient level of AI literacy" among staff who operate or provide AI systems. In this month's #LearningCurve, we're sharing our playbook for turning a compliance imperative into your strategic opportunity. Meet Sedinam Worlanyo, a Senior Product Researcher here at Coursera! 👋 👩💼 What it’s like to work in user experience: “I get to learn from our users around the world! Sometimes that could look like talking to them in interviews, analyzing large quantities of data, or observing how they interact with various features on Coursera. Once I identify patterns and insights from the data, I use them to help our team make decisions to improve our product experience.” 👫 On cultivating a sense of belonging: In addition to her Researcher role, she drives the Coursera for Africa Innovation Bridge initiative, an exchange that connects Courserians with African Leadership University students. “Initiatives like Innovation Bridge are platforms to hold up mirrors for people who might not yet see themselves in certain spaces, but absolutely belong there. My goal has always been to help others translate their skills, claim their space, and feel seen in the process and I love that I’ve been able to proactively do that at Coursera.” 🌟 Her success tip: Don’t let technical language make you feel like you’re starting from scratch. “Too often, I meet learners who have the skills but don’t recognize them. One reason I’ve noticed is that the industry tends to use language that feels out of reach. Take, for example, ‘prompt engineering.’ At its core, it's about asking better questions to get better results—something people can learn to do, but might initially find daunting simply by the technical term.” ▶️ Want to learn from Sedinam?
