Nearly 75 years ago, a time capsule was placed behind a cornerstone in what is currently the oldest building on The Miriam Hospital campus. We recently unveiled the time capsule with the help of Jeffrey Brier, grandson of Benjamin Brier, the third president of The Miriam Hospital Board of Trustees who buried the time capsule in 1951. The time capsule contains many artifacts, including newspapers that told the story of The Miriam Hospital’s history. The Total Joint Center at The Miriam Hospital recently hosted a speaker from the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) as a first step in providing professional development and advanced certification in #orthopedics for the nursing team. After a few months of training and provided study materials, they will have the opportunity to take the Orthopedic Certification Exam.
