Smile Group Charity

Mental Health Care

Mental health charity in Cheshire East, supporting families through the highs & lows of pregnancy & early parenthood.

About us

Smile Group was set up in 2011 on Mother's Day by Natalie Nuttall & Ruth Williams, who both had experience of perinatal mental illness and saw a glaring gap in community support. Smile operates a blend of services across Cheshire East, including peer support groups, 1-1 talk therapy, home visits, family sessions and 1-1 support. Smile has supported more than 600 women and their families in the last three years alone through its peer support drop-ins, 1-1 talk therapy and home visits programme. Smile Group is featured in the RCGPs' Perinatal Mental Health Toolkit of best practice nationally and has been supported by Comic Relief's Maternal Mental Health programme. It is also a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership and helps to coordinate an award winning national maternal mental health matters awareness campaign each year. Its peer support groups run on a weekly basis out of children's centres in Macclesfield, Congleton & Sandbach.

Thanks to the Omaze Community, more parents will feel supported during the challenging first years of parenting 👩🍼 Your generosity and support through the Cheshire House Draw means that we've been able to donate £20,000 to Smile Group, a perinatal mental health charity that helps new parents feel less alone during what can often be an isolating and overwhelming period. The money will fund vital services including counselling, talk therapy and informal peer support. 🫶 This donation is part of our commitment to leave a lasting legacy in the communities in which our houses are located—in addition to the main donation for our House Draw charity partners. 💛 We think that's definitely something to smile about! 😊

I'm Doing Something Stupid (For a Seriously Good Cause) On 26th July, I’ll be voluntarily launching myself through 15 kilometres of mud, pain, electrocution, ice baths, and general chaos — also known as Tough Mudder. Why? Because: I clearly have unresolved issues with comfort and dignity, and I’m raising money for a brilliant causes that genuinely deserves your support more than I deserve a hot bath afterwards. This isn’t a fun run. It’s more of a “let’s see how far we can push Paul before he cries in a ditch” kind of day. And every shocking, soaking, slipping moment will be worth it if we raise money to help the 2 in my chapters. 💛 Why It Matters “Smile helps bring joy, relief and real-life support to families going through incredibly tough times. Their work changes lives — and if I can get bruised and broken to help fund even a tiny part of that, it’s a no-brainer.” "MyCWA – Cheshire Without Abuse. They provide crucial support to individuals and families living with or escaping abusive relationships. From emergency housing and counselling to education and prevention work — they are a lifeline in crisis. The work MyCWA does changes lives — and often saves them. 💸 Donate = Motivation Every donation, no matter how big or small, gets me one step closer to the finish line (and emotionally recovering from being face-down in a mud pit). Please consider supporting — even just the cost of a pint — and share this page to help me reach the target. Let’s turn mud into meaning. Thanks so much. Paul 💥 If you do donate please select which charity you want to support. #hr #hrhurt #paulhurts #employmentlaw #bnicheshireeast #bnicharityweek

  • 🌟 A huge thank you to Harts Limited for choosing Smile Group as their Charity of the Year at their Ladies in Business networking event 🌟 Organised by Harts Limited in collaboration with Anthony Collins Solicitors, Ladies in Business is a fantastic quarterly networking event bringing together women from the local business community. It’s always an inspiring opportunity to connect, share ideas, and empower one another. We are thrilled to share that £450 was raised for Smile Group Charity through their event raffle.
