At iwoca, we believe finance should feel like a superpower, not a headache.
About us
iwoca was founded to expand possibilities for small businesses. At iwoca, we believe finance should feel like a superpower, not a headache. That’s why our founders, Chris and James, decided to create a solution custom-built for small businesses. One that strips out the hassle, gets to know what each business needs, and looks for opportunities rather than problems. One that provides access to finance where and when your business needs it. Our partner integrations and our Lending API mean we can provide access to finance where and when small businesses need it. Our award winning credit risk engine help us make faster, more accurate credit decisions built around the performance of the business. We are proud to be NACFB Lender of the year, Xero Financial Services App of the year and, most recently, winner of the £10m Banking Competition Remedies grant. Since 2012, we’ve made funding available to over 50,000 businesses, from cafés to car dealers, salons to solicitors. But we’ve only just started. Our mission is to fund one million small businesses.

🗞️ NEWS JUST IN! Our feature interview with The Times has just landed, where we share the story behind iwoca’s record-breaking year, why we’re excited about what’s next, and our ambitions to transform SME finance. Some highlights: iwoca is on a mission to grow the SME economy and to finance 1 million small businesses. 📈 In 2024, we lent £1bn to small and medium-sized businesses across the UK and Germany - a new all-time high. In the first half of 2025, we’ve already funded nearly 36,000 businesses. That’s one every 7 minutes, 24/7! ⏩ Automation and volume Our sophisticated model powers everything we do and allows us to lend at pace. Over 120,000 unique SME customers signed up last year and we are on course to break that record in 2025. 💸 Fundraising We secured £520m in debt funding from the likes of Citi, Barclays, Värde Partners, Pollen Street Capital, and Waterfall Asset Management LLC, bringing total investment in iwoca to £1.5bn since our 2012 launch. 🌍 Market impact We’re proud to have funded nearly 100,000 unique SMEs for over £4bn and now have a team of over 550 iwocans across the UK and Germany to help us grow. (We are still hiring!) 📈We’re one of the UK’s top performing fintechs. According to research from Graffiti Syndicate, iwoca is now the #5 ranked fintech in the UK when analysing revenue growth and profit. ⭐ Looking ahead Over the next year, we’re looking forward to launching a series of new ventures. This includes a credit card, a tool for businesses to check their credit health and SME insurance. Initiatives we feel are built to address real SME needs, help more businesses and drive our next phase of growth. Watch this space.. 🚀 Let’s go James Dear Christoph Rieche Seema Desai Colin Goldstein Mark Di-Toro Joost Versteeg Austin Carpenter Mark Richens Lara Gilman Romain Guilleminet Jason Roomer Fabian Platzen Freddie Glebocki Jake Mellett Rich Pearce Krystyna Biller Bart-Jan Pors James Hurley #growth #fintech #SMEs #innovation #iwoca
