Welcoming three new members to the Kystdesign team 👋🎊   Christian Rygh has joined us as an HSE & Q Coordinator, bringing solid HSE experience from both offshore and onshore. Now focused on risk management and company-wide safety standards, he’s already made a strong impression. Outside of work, Christian enjoys time with his family and staying active, and he also plays guitar and finds time for a bit of hard rock. 🎸   Alfred Svendsen also came on board this month as our Mechanical Apprentice. After spending several months with us on a placement every Friday, he is now fully part of the team. He works on assembling and fine-tuning our ROVs, something he finds both hands-on and exciting. Outside of work, Alfred keeps busy on the family farm and in the village, taking on work like haymaking in the summer and snow clearing in the winter. 🚜🌾   Lars Melkevik joins Kystdesign as a Senior Electronics Engineer, bringing with him a strong background from the subsea industry. While ROVs are new to him, he’s already deep into the design process and enjoying the challenge. He’s also enjoyed getting to know the team. Outside the office, Lars spends time sailing, relaxing at the family cabin in Fitjar, and training for a half marathon at Oslo Maraton 2025 next month! ⛵🏃 We’re excited to have all three on board as we continue to build the future of subsea technology! 🚀🤖

Turning Experience into Engineering. Meet our mechanical engineer Lars Johan Velde! 🔧 Originally trained as an agricultural mechanic, he began his career as a forklift technician, later spent several years teaching at a high school, and then served as a technical foreman. A couple years ago, he took the leap into ROV engineering at Kystdesign—driven by a mix of excitement and nerves. «Going from being the one with all the answers to the one asking all the questions was a shift, but a good one», Lars Johan says. Today, he’s busy drawing new products, improving existing products, and testing components, often using 3D printing. When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him spending time with his family, including his sons and grandchild. Whether they’re fixing up the old tractor, tending the garden, cycling, hiking, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Lars Johan is also an active contributor to local community projects! 🚜🚴🏻 We’re lucky to have him as a part of our team and can’t wait to see how his skills continue to shape Kystdesign. 🚀

Say hello to our new supervisors and our summer intern! ☀️   We have welcomed the first two members of our ROV Support department: ROV Support Supervisors Jan Ingvar Vårvik and Odd Jarle Hovland! Both bringing solid ROV experience and industry insight, and a strong drive to support customers and production as we grow. In addition to being highly skilled, they’re also really great guys, already making a positive impact as they help build the team from the ground up.    Off the clock, Jan Ingvar enjoys time with his family and grandchildren, keeping busy with gardening, boating, and home projects. Odd Jarle, on the other hand, you'll likely find on the road with one of his Harleys. 🏍️
   We also have a new summer intern in our electrical department! Steinar Bauge Haugland is with us from June to mid-August, excited to turn theory into hands-on experience.⚡️When Steinar’s not at work, he keeps his energy up with strength training and runs. 💪🏃   Great to have all three on the team! 👏

Say hi to our summer interns Tomas Martin and Olav Aleksander! ☀️ This summer, we’re lucky to have Tomas Martin and Olav Aleksander on board as interns at Kystdesign. Tomas is studying civil engineering at the University of Stavanger and is spending the summer with us in the mechanical design department, redrawing parts and stepping in to support while some of our engineers are on vacation. ✍️🔩 Olav Aleksander is helping out in the warehouse and goods reception. Organizing parts, supporting production, and getting hands-on insight into how ROVs come together. 📦

KJELL MORTEN HAUGSNES knows Kystdesign inside and out. As Foreman of the Machining Workshop, he has played a central role for a decade. He brings deep knowledge of the trade, having started in the field back in 1988. 🛠️ Kjell Morten's leadership has helped shape not only components but also people. He’s someone colleagues naturally turn to for insight and experience. Working with ROV development and being part of every delivery and celebration makes the job meaningful for Kjell Morten. He finds Kystdesign to be a good and safe place to work, with great people to work with. He’s especially enthusiastic about mentoring the next generation: «It’s rewarding to work with the younger team members and share what I’ve learned. They keep things fresh, and we support each other.» 👏 A typical day for Kjell Morten is full of activity, making sure everyone has what they need, prepping materials, and performing quality checks. It’s a hands-on job that suits him well. When he’s not at work, Kjell Morten appreciates the slower pace of life on his farm. He likes to spend time with friends and family, tending the garden, and occasionally working on his classic car. 🌱 Kjell Morten says it best: «It’s exciting to be part of what’s next for Kystdesign.
