As part of my MBA at Bayes Business School, I had the unique opportunity to travel to Kenya for International Consultancy Week and work with the remarkable team at POLLEN PATROLLERS, led by the inspirational Margaret Wanjiku. Pollen Patrollers is tackling the challenge of bee colony collapse by equipping beekeepers with smart hive sensors that monitor temperature, humidity, sound and movement. This real-time data empowers beekeepers to take proactive steps, improving bee health, reducing colony loss, and supporting food security. Why it matters: 🐝 Up to 60% of bee colonies collapse each year in parts of Africa 🐝 80% of global food crops depend on pollination 🐝 Healthy bees = higher crop yields and more income for smallholder farmers. It was a privilege to help shape the strategic direction for this impactful business with my amazing teammates Domenica Di Lieto FCIM, Raj Dhanoa (Grewal), Anna Hendry, and Elie Tony Kassis – your energy, enthusiasm and insight was invaluable. A huge thanks to the Bayes faculty team – Alessandro Giudici , Paulina Roszkowska , Nikos Nomikos , Benedicte Mornet , and Tamsin Lock – for your help and guidance throughout the week. A massive thanks to Isabella Tenai and the rest of the E4Impact Foundation team for their support. It wasn't all work! A truly unforgettable experience!
