As the US election came to a close, it was a good time to connect with our local Westminster System, touring Parliament House, led by Lucy Hood, and attended by Joe Szakacs, Nat Cook and Hon Reggie Martin MLC. Highly recommend Lucy’s tour - super interesting! Great to have members of the Labor party take the time to connect with local businesses and engage in conversation, showing an interest in what’s working well and perceived opportunities. As members of the Thirty Niners and corporate members of South Australian Business Chamber, we don’t take lightly the ability to connect with those that directly impact policy (both Labor and Liberal members). Brilliant to see the SA Business Chamber policy team, led by Kendall Crowe, attend the event also, playing an important role in bringing business sentiment and policy formation together.

It goes without saying that attracting and retaining talent over the past few years has been high on most businesses agendas. Business owners, executives, Managers, HR professionals and recruitment professionals know too well the impact of the extreme talent crunch. The current unemployment rate in SA is 3.9 percent, below the national rate of 4.1 percent. Crazy! My recruitment colleagues know that you have to search high and low, leaving no stone unturned to find the right talent, all while keeping high levels of due diligence throughout the entire recruitment process. The last few years have meant many many extra hours per recruitment campaign to get the best results.
