Carbrook Golf Club has faced more than its fair share of challenges. But it’s turned the tide on its flood resilience. When the club was devastated by flooding in 2022 — and again during ex TC Alfred — the road to recovery wasn’t easy. But after receiving funding from the joint Queensland and Federal Governments Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, Carbrook has come back faster and stronger than ever. We visited the golf course to speak with General Manager Scott Wagstaff about what the flood upgrades have meant for the club and the community. With the funding, the club was able to: ✅ Build 4km of concrete cart paths ✅ Repair erosion around the first tee and carpark ✅ Future-proof the facility for the long term Read more of our interview with Scott Wagstaff about Carbrook Golf Club’s comeback journey: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.pbit.ly/4fw8zOv #QldSport #Golf #CarbrookGolfClub #TCAlfred

There’s been a sporting surge in Rockhampton ⚡ New LED lights at Kettle Park have seen more teams training for longer, and all through winter with five new competition-standard lighting towers. 💡 “Once upon a time the fields would be closed by sundown. Since the lighting’s gone in, there’s between 500 and 1,000 more participants who are able to use the field,” says Rob Alexander, Principal at The Cathedral College. Yesterday, we marked a historic milestone - seven years until the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. And to mark the occasion we coordinated celebrations across Queensland that showcased our commitment to building a lasting sporting legacy. 🏅🤝 Hundreds of students came together with Olympic and Paralympic athletes at Brisbane Showgrounds highlighting the exciting opportunities being created for the next generation. Meanwhile in Rockhampton, locals and athletes took to the Fitzroy River for a special rowing event — connecting regional Queensland to the Brisbane 2032 countdown. 💚💛 Landmarks across all 13 council areas set to host events lit up green and gold as we reflected on our vision: investing in grassroots sport, building participation pathways, and cementing Queensland as Australia’s sporting capital. We’re not just getting ready to host the world’s biggest event — we’re creating a legacy that will benefit Queenslanders for generations. Let the countdown to Brisbane 2032 begin. 🔥 Read more: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.pbit.ly/4f8xs2H #7YTG #GreenAndGoldRunway #QLDSport Australian Olympic Committee Paralympics Australia Brisbane 2032 Swimming Australia Australian Athletics
