Looking for a home with flexibility for future growth? This multi-generational plan has it all: Private in-law suite with it's own entry. Additional bonus space upstairs and down - enough room for multiple house hack rentals, running a business, or just adding more kids. Finish as much as you want now. Do more later. The base living area has some nice features, as well: Smart layout with all bedrooms toward the back. Beautiful primary suite bath with his and hers closets. Dual staircases. Some things that could easily be fixed or improved: More pantry, less utility room. Better location for the guest bath. Much smaller closet window. Expanding and connecting upstairs spaces with an improved truss layout. What do you think? Full plan and sample photos in comments.
My brother and I were just talking about a concept like this. Starting with a base of a 2-3 bedroom home but designing it in a way that it'd be easy to add another 1-2 bedrooms/office. It'd be interesting to see more designs around the idea of adding on in the future
My husband and I have a modest house. It’s been perfect for raising our family of six (although they might argue it’s a bit small). Now that we’re preparing to send kids off to college over the next several years, we’re also starting to plan to “upsize” our home. Many friends have found this confusing. Why after the kids move out? It’s simple, really. One: the economy, which has only continued to be pretty devastating for young people coming out of college. College debt. Skyrocketing home and vehicle prices. Ridiculous cost of living. We want our kids to be able to have some flexible income, so we want to provide a space for them to come back home—in a more private, “adult” space—if needed. Two: with any luck, our family will continue to grow. Significant others, spouses, children. Hopefully they will have families of their own some day, and we want an inviting space for them to visit and visit often. I can only hope and dream to have a home like the one in your post! This is beautiful and a good separation of the "next generation" on the floorplan. The only caveat: bathroom as soon as you enter front door - could be interesting. Perhaps a swap with the space behind it for "freshness" 😊
This is beautiful!
