This week’s story of impact takes us to Flat Rock Brook Nature Association, a nonprofit preserve that’s been connecting the Englewood community to the outdoors for over 50 years. Their mission? To maintain the 150-acre preserve as a natural sanctuary for plants and wildlife, as well as provide a nature preserve available to the public for trail walks, nature study and other passive recreation. With 75,000 annual visitors, 3.6 miles of trails, native wildlife and environmental education programs, Flat Rock Brook is a local treasure we’re proud to support. As part of their efforts to make nature more inclusive, Flat Rock Brook Nature Association is building a 700-foot ADA-accessible boardwalk, creating space for people of all abilities to connect with nature. Our employee volunteers helped bring this vision to life by laying frames and constructing parts of the boardwalk itself. “This project was a big undertaking for our small team, and having Samsung’s support made all the difference. Their enthusiasm, hard work and commitment helped us complete the boardwalk on time and create something truly meaningful for our visitors,” said Catherine Wedgbury, Land Manager at Flat Rock Brook. “Their volunteer efforts turned our commitment to accessibility into a tangible, lasting boardwalk—one that opens the preserve to more visitors, especially those with mobility challenges.” Together, we’re building more than trails—we’re building a community rooted in nature, inclusion, and stewardship for generations to come.
