Do we need to be kids again? I recently read McKinsey’s article, “The key to accelerating AI development? Pragmatism plus imagination,” and found it incredibly relevant to the challenges businesses face today. As someone who has been working at the intersection of technology and business for over two decades, I believe this conversation is essential for anyone looking to make the most of AI. The podcast highlights a critical point: to truly leverage AI, businesses need to find a balance between being practical and thinking creatively. We’re seeing AI transform industries, but the real impact comes when companies ground their AI efforts in reality while also pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. From my experience advising companies, I’ve noticed that many struggle with this balance. Some are too cautious, missing out on opportunities, while others dive into AI without a solid foundation, leading to costly missteps. The key is to develop a strategy that encourages creative thinking, but also ensures that ideas are feasible and aligned with business goals. I believe this approach is where the real innovation happens, and it’s what sets successful companies apart. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, I recommend it. It’s a valuable discussion that challenges us to think more deeply about how we approach AI and leadership. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. How are you balancing pragmatism and imagination in your AI strategies? Let’s connect and explore how we can apply these ideas to drive meaningful results in our businesses.
