In today's ever-changing business landscape, retirees bring valuable skills and insights that allow the company to maintain operational excellence while fostering mentorship and knowledge transfer to the next generation of talent. Our Retiree Talent Network Program is closing knowledge gaps, reducing overtime and providing fulfillment for retirees by bringing them back into facilities for short-term projects. How about Training a year out when a Pre-Retiree is going to retire. The retirement date has been set train from a year prior so the retired can retire. This bringing retired employees back has to be costly From what I’m being told by not only managers but the hourly workers this doesn’t exist GP would bring a retiree back as a consultant at 5x the wage C’mon guys the “Captain” of the ship looks good when his “Crew” is trained it’s a well oiled machine Train your crews!! Treat your labor with respect and dignity. Stop micromanaging Stop the bird Dogging Train Train Train the dividends will outweigh the loss
What an innovative idea and smart way to share the knowledge of years of service with newer employees! Way to go GP!
Congrats! 🎉
What a great program, this statement from someone who did not want to retire. Some of us can explain our experiences with writing, others can pass along knowledge with hands on demonstrations of that experience and it is a two way exchange because as we all have experienced, things change and having a historical perspective to add to process and technical changes is enlightening and creative. An 'old dog can learn new tricks'.
Love this. Georgia-Pacific LLC I’m curious, are there plans to involve retiree talent in other areas like marketing or strategy where their experience could still drive serious value?
Brilliant Initiative Georgia-Pacific LLC. Outstanding way to bridge the gap, provide work-life balance, and inject decades of experience in your facilities.
This is a great program! I credit a similar program that my grandfather participated in with keeping him fit, healthy, and energized after retirement. It's a great opportunity for retirees to pass along their knowledge and to keep them engaged in life.
When working for GP I always commented that Workers need to remember those who came before had it tougher than You. Learn from those who did not have the technological advances and proactively meld work practices, with Safety First in mind. The Company and Employee both benefit!
