We rarely use the ‘commentary’ tag at The Air Current. It was time. We live in an age where generative AI fabrications are rampant, made that much worse by a void in factual information. “Transparency is key,” former NTSB chair Robert L. Sumwalt told TAC. Without it, he added, “Bulls*** is going to fill that vacuum.” Read more: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gH8uQhXK #AI171 #staycurrent #genai
One of the best articles I've ever read about aviation, social media and use of AI.
Totally agree, Jon, and the scary part about this is that AI generated items will be more a more prevalent as a "go-to" news source, as people (especially non-experts) are unable to distinguish fact from fiction.
Excellent as usual, Jon! With the FDR and CVR having been recovered quickly, and initial readout usually happening within days, it’s starting to seem irresponsible for India’s AAIB to stay radio silent for a fortnight. Doing so helps create the environment for all the crap we are seeing.
Even if you aren't into the aircraft/airline business, this is a great, well-researched, well-documented case study on how AI, social, and impatience can come together to obscure truth and spread misinformation. Worth a read. And I'm not just plugging it because Jon's my cousin 😊
Well said, Jon Ostrower!
It’s great piece Jon and it succinctly tackles an increasingly challenging and problematic issue.
There’s a lot of bull out there and it gets public attention.
