Remember the programming language Ada? Or maybe you've never heard of it at all? 👀 Either way, it's time to get familiar: Ada is back in the top 10 of the TIOBE Index. 🏆 Find out why its focus on security is putting this language back in the spotlight. ▶️
Love this
Interesting to see Ada climbing back into the spotlight. Personally, I prefer to wait for the IEEE ranking to get a clearer picture of how much Ada has actually gained as a core language compared to last year.
Ada has been and still is one of the key languages in Space and Security applications ...it is very niche ...
It only appears to have reached the TIOBE index top 10, and will probably drop out again soon. I'm not seeing any increase in usage anywhere else, including GitHub. I would be interested to see supporting statistics though if someone is able to provide them Ada is a niche programming langauge mainly used within aerospace and security industries, for obvious reasons
Definitely worth reading
Ada is not just another programming language; it was designed for engineering reliable, maintainable, and safety-critical systems. It enforces discipline, clarity, and correctness, traits that align with engineering principles more than with mere software hacking.
👍
Ada includes ranges on numeric types, fixed-point types, preconditions, postconditions, generics, subtypes, and a stable C/C++-compatible ABI. These are features I have often wished for in other languages. I like Ada for its expressive power and syntactic harmony (the features are not bolt-on), and I believe it deserves to be taught in schools. It also has a formal extension, SPARK, which is excellent for high-assurance software.

2dAs a professional skeptic, I would definitely say ADA is one of the best and only one PL in sapce and SCS.
