  • A sticky note on a laptop that reads "The best programming language is _ because _". There is an octocat sticker on the laptop. An open pen is laying on the table beside the laptop.

Python, it's popular. C, it's base. Rust, it's shiny + Solana, JS, I love front-end. C#, great for gamedev and desktop. Scala, Why? Java, omg, it's awesome, I literally just forgot to mention. Every language is great, just pick whatever you feel and drop reasoning.

The best programming language is the one you know, because that's the one you're actually going to build something with.

In 1999, around the time of C+, it came up in conversation that I had taken computer programming in high school and college. A colleague asked me, which ones? I answered, Basic, Pascal, and Fortran. I'll never forget the disdain in her voice when she said, what good are those? Like, you asked which ones I *knew*. They were cutting edge in 1983, 1987 and 1988! 😝 Honestly the basic ideas haven't changed that much. The concept of an "if-then" loop works exactly the same no matter what language you are you using.

Python. No problem which cannot be solved. Even problems of the 1990s.
