I was both surprised and deeply humbled to receive recognition from the DePaul community at the 2025 Sankofa Excellence Awards. Being honored with the Community Legend Award stands as one of the most meaningful moments of my 35 years at DePaul. A heartfelt thank you to Ava Francis and Jene Colvin for their incredible leadership in advising the remarkable students of Sankofa. I am also profoundly grateful to the students who played a role in my selection. It is an immense privilege to be a part of the DePaul community, and I truly treasure this honor.
