I used to be scared of the 5K but I'm thrilled to share that I just smashed my 5K PB in a time of 16:10! 🥳 5K races used to absolutely TERRIFY ME. Too fast. Too painful. Too far outside my comfort zone. So I avoided it. I stuck to longer distances. Raced half marathons and full marathons. Told myself I was better at endurance anyway. But earlier this year, training for the London Marathon, I knew I had to face my fears to level up my running game. As the adage goes, "you're only as strong as your weakest link". And my Achilles heel? Speed. So I decided to stop avoiding it and start confronting it. I did what I never thought I'd do. I signed up for track sessions, entered shorter races and committed myself to smashing my PBs in every distance from the 5K up to the Marathon before the end of 2025! And last week, the training paid off 😍 I shaved 34 seconds off my 5K PB, with the 10K and HM coming up next! 🙌 Like with so many of my experiences with sport, there's a lesson here that applies in the world of startups and business. Just as in running, business growth lies just past the edge of your comfort zone. Your team, your brand, your product - they’re only as strong as the parts you most want to avoid. So if you want to break through: 🏃Run towards the thing you hate. 🏋️♂️Do the reps no one else wants to do. 💪Train your weakness until it becomes your strength. Because at the end of the day, 𝗶𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂! Massive shoutout to Rui Yong Soh for his coaching support over the last few months. This guy is Singapore’s marathon champ and destroyed the same 5K race in a time of 14:48! 👀 And of course, I couldn’t have done it without Better Nature’s supercharged protein. Our tempeh has been an absolute cornerstone of my nutrition since I started running!
