Last week in Munich, I had the chance to test-drive the BMW i7 that is equipped with an all-solid-state battery, powered by Umicore’s cathode materials. Solid-state batteries promise higher energy density and consequently improved electric range. The BMWi7 is a beautiful example of what is possible when you combine automotive ambition with Umicore’s expertise in chemistry, materials science and metallurgy.
