Why legalize?
- In audio and video, there are many different standards if you're going for broadcast, that is. If your work will be shown on broadcast, then you need to make sure that your audio is consistent with the requirements of this broadcast system. If you're going for a common broadcast system, such as what is used in the United States, Europe, or Asia, then you probably want for the audio to be between minus 23 and minus 25 LKFS. Don't worry too much about exactly what it is that you need. Most broadcast houses will have documents that will state very clearly what their audio requirements are, so if you follow their guidance, you'll be just fine. Now you don't want to send something to any broadcast house that does not follow the guidelines because it will be returned to you, and that's kind of embarrassing.
