The 2025 YMCA Changemakers Summit took place June 27-29 in Orlando, Florida offering rising 10th-12th graders the opportunity to propose a project that address a critical issue or need in their communities. Out of the 78 students whom participated, Gabrielle B. and Sean M. were chosen as semifinalists by their peers for their project: A Change: Mental Health in Alief. They received $2500 to implement their project. The YMCA congratulates Gabrielle and Sean on their accomplishment and is proud of their contributions to better our communities.

Drowning is the second leading cause of death in children under the age of 14. To help keep Houston-area children safe around water, Reliant and the YMCA of Greater Houston have teamed up to promote water safety education and life-saving skills, helping to prevent accidental drownings and injuries. Reliant’s donation of $30,000 will help the YMCA provide water safety education for Houstonians this summer through their Safety Around Water initiative.
