  • After months of delays, sweeping new tariffs went into effect on August 7, impacting everything from appliances to toys. While a few categories like oil and smartphones remain exempt, the move represents one of the most aggressive trade shifts in recent years. Despite economic headwinds, Wayvia data shows steady year-over-year growth in July 2025, likely boosted by a strong Prime Day and competing sales events. However, growth has started to slow in categories that surged earlier in the year, hinting at stockpiling behavior. In contrast, essential categories like Grocery continue to climb, reflecting sustained demand as shoppers prioritize everyday necessities. Wayvia’s latest report breaks it all down–what just happened, what’s next, and what it means for brands navigating a shifting landscape. #Wayvia #OmnicommerceData #RetailIntelligence #ShoppableMedia #Tariffs

Amazon beat expectations today, but that wasn’t exactly a surprise. Amazon surpassed revenue expectations with $167.7B in sales, growing 13% year over year. AWS posted 18% growth, online store sales were up 11% and advertising remains a key growth engine. Early in the quarter, Wayvia (formerly PriceSpider) data saw sales spike, nearly on par with holiday levels for some categories, as shoppers moved quickly to buy ahead of anticipated price increases. For a stretch, Amazon’s average order value actually surpassed Walmart’s in Q2. That’s rare. Typically, Amazon sees higher frequency but smaller basket sizes compared to Walmart. The strength we’re seeing in ecommerce isn’t exclusive to Amazon. It reflects a broader shift across marketplaces: consumers are price sensitive and getting more strategic, using digital channels to hunt for the best deals. To meet that shift, Amazon is also doubling down on generative AI to enhance the shopping experience and drive performance. Features like “Hear the Highlights” make it easier for shoppers to compare products and make faster decisions with less friction. The next quarter will be telling. During Prime Day, our data showed Walmart gaining share in high-frequency, essential categories like grocery and health & beauty. And as EMARKETER reported, Walmart dropped prices by nearly 2% while Amazon’s prices rose. Q3 will show how tariffs and pricing pressures are playing out at the shelf level, and set the tone for how retailers respond heading into the holiday season. #omnicommerce #shoppablemedia #retailintelligence #omnicommercedata #Amazon #Walmart #AmazonEarnings

  • Amazon is set to report Q2 earnings this week, and early indicators point to a solid quarter. According to Wayvia data, sales were up year-over-year, likely driven by stockpiling in high-demand categories. Average Order Value (AOV) surged 46% from Q1 and 41% YoY, despite a slight dip in June. But the real story may be what’s ahead. July’s competing sales events offered an early glimpse into Q3 performance. Amazon maintained its dominance with daily sales 3.7x higher than Walmart’s during the sales event. But Walmart shouldn’t be overlooked. The retailer pulled ahead on basket size and showed strong performance in everyday essentials. Wayvia’s latest report breaks it all down — what just happened, what’s next, and what it means for brands navigating a shifting landscape. #Wayvia #OmnicommerceData #RetailIntelligence #ShoppableMedia #Amazon #Walmart #Target #Tariffs #PrimeDay

Senior Vice President of Strategy | Connecting people, ideas and technology to help omnicommerce brands thrive.

20+ years ago, we were building technology that could spider the web and pull real-time pricing data to help shoppers compare products. It didn’t take long to realize that same data was even more powerful in the hands of brands — giving them the insights they needed to improve the shopping experience and drive results. From the beginning, our focus has been helping clients in whatever way we could — pricing visibility, brand monitoring, sales analytics, shoppable content. When the industry shifted, we shifted too. It’s always been part of who we are. Behind the scenes, we’ve helped some of the world’s biggest brands grow, adapt, and stay ahead. As their needs evolved, so did we. Now, commerce is shifting again. AI is reshaping how brands operate — and once again, we’re not standing still. We’re stepping forward. Wayvia (formerly PriceSpider) is the next chapter: built on the same foundation, powered by the same relentless drive to solve complex problems — now smarter, faster, and AI-enabled. It’s more than a new name. It’s a reflection of who we are and where we’re going. Proud of what we’ve built. Even more excited for what’s ahead. When we first started PriceSpider more than 20+ years ago, our mission was simple: help shoppers find the best prices online. As the digital shelf expanded, we saw new possibilities to serve the brands behind those products, not just the people buying them. Since then, at every major inflection point in commerce, we’ve evolved to meet the needs of brands. But today’s shift is different. It’s bigger. The pace of change is accelerating. #AI is reshaping how people discover, decide and buy. Shopper journeys are no longer linear. And we’re ready for it with smarter tools and more insights to help brands thrive in this next era of AI-driven commerce. But the truth is, our name hasn’t kept up with our capabilities. So today, we’re launching Wayvia. Wayvia is the best of what we’ve built at PriceSpider, but smarter and more adaptive, with greater insight into real-time pricing, product availability and behavioral trends. With 20+ years of data, Wayvia gives brands an intelligent path to revenue. We’re just getting started. Big thanks to the entire team for helping us get here.
