A huge congratulations to the Hawaii Off Grid : Architecture & Engineering team for this AIA honor and recognition. Marvin was so proud to be a part of this project, and as described below, it’s a perfect example of how stunning design and high performance can go hand in hand. Congrats again!
We are honored to announce that Kūpono Hale has received the AIA Award for Excellence in Energy-Efficient Design at the 2025 AIA Honolulu Design Awards! Located on Maui, Kūpono Hale is a regenerative, energy-independent home that produces all of its own power and water. Featuring Surf Block ICCF walls made from recycled EPS foam, a Lumos Solar bifacial solar roof, and expansive Marvin windows for daylighting and ventilation. Designed with passive solar strategies, this home is a model for net-zero living in Hawaiʻi. Mahalo to Hawaii Energy, and our incredible team and partners for helping bring this vision to life—and to the AIA Honolulu jury for recognizing the importance of climate-forward, resilient design. This win inspires us to keep designing homes that honor the land, support sustainable communities, and set new standards for efficiency and beauty.
