Last week, FAME Signing Day at Reedley College marked a major milestone: the launch of the first-ever FAME Chapter on the West Coast — and the official start of the Valley’s inaugural cohort of FAME student-employees! This is a landmark achievement for FAME USA, our partners, and the entire manufacturing community in California. We were honored to have Rep. Vince Fong and Rep. Jim Costa join the celebration, underscoring the importance of this moment for the region’s economic future. The Central Valley FAME Chapter is the result of four years of dedicated collaboration and strategic investment, driven by a shared goal: to build a pipeline of highly skilled talent in advanced manufacturing. Chris Zeitz said it best: 📍 4 years ago, work began on the #GoodJobsChallenge grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, supported by technical assistance from The Manufacturing Institute - MI. 📍 3 years ago, the coalition was awarded $23 million, allowing for expanded work with the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance and regional partners. 📍 2 years ago, Reedley College piloted a short-term manufacturing training program and launched a regional listening tour to hear directly from employers. 📍 1 year ago, dozens of employers came together to define training needs and lay the groundwork for a local FAME chapter. 📍 Last week, it all came together — student-employees began school and work, officially launching the Central Valley FAME Chapter. These students will graduate with a strong academic foundation, cutting-edge technical skills, and real-world experience — ready to lead in the modern manufacturing workforce. FAME USA is proud to welcome the Central Valley into our growing national network. This chapter is proof that when education and industry work together, we can build strong regional economies and stronger career pathways for the next generation.
