Meet Sweety! 👋🐎 As a new ambassador of the Nestlé Purina North America Family Pet Center, this mini horse has had a maximum impact on our kiddos. The Purina Family Pet Center is part of our approach to kid-focused care, providing a safe space for patients to visit with their pets from home—a way to keep them feeling positive, loved, and connected. Since Sweety joined the Children's family about a year ago, we've seen an 87% increase in the number of visitors to the Pet Center. Sweety represents the importance of animals on the mental wellbeing of our patients and their families, and with support from Purina, we're proud to be able to offer the opportunity for them to connect in a safe space without compromising their clinical care. Thank you, Sweety, and to all those who help bring the magic of animals to our kids. Read more about Sweety and the Purina Family Pet Center's impact: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.pheyor.ca/y5nlOI

When it comes to compassionate care and unwavering commitment, Abby, BSN, RN, exemplifies what it means to be a DAISY nurse. Abby’s nomination highlights her exceptional care in getting a patient ready to head home from the hospital. During the routine education process, Abby discovered that the patient and their family were struggling to understand their discharge paperwork—barriers that could have easily gone unnoticed. Rather than simply completing her checklist, Abby reimagined the education process. She created new tools, adapted complex information into easy-to-understand formats, and made sure the patient and their family understood everything they'd need to know to continue healing at home. Abby also rearranged her work and personal schedule to continue helping the patient with at-home care, helping to ease the transition with a familiar face. “She showed grace, understanding, compassion, and empathy every step of the way," shares the physician who nominated her. "Abby leads by example on our unit every day, and she is so beyond deserving of this award and more.” Thank you, Abby, for giving each of our patients the personalized attention and care they deserve! 🫶
