This heatwave in New Jersey has us all melting! If you or family member/friend is feeling the effects of heat stroke, please call 911. Saint Clare's is here when you need us! Here are some tips to help stay healthy in the heat: - Stay Hydrated and Keep Away from Soda and Alcohol: keep drinking water and electrolyte sports drinks throughout the day. Stay away from soda as they can exacerbate dehydration. Alcohol also adds to dehydration. - Cars and Pavement are hotter than you think: A hot car can get up to 123 degrees on just an 80-degree day. Please cool off your car or stay home. Pavement at these temperatures can cause severe burns. Do not walk barefoot and watch the paws on your pets. - Stay in the air conditioning through the hottest times of the day: It is safer to limit sun exposure and stay inside a fully air-conditioned building especially from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. - Wear loose fitting clothing and light colors – Loose fitting clothing accelerates air circulation and light-colored clothing will reflect more light and heat.
