We're confronting one of the defining issues of our generation: the mental health crisis. Are you in?
About us
Who we are: Project Healthy Minds is a new millennial/Gen Z-driven non-profit startup focused on tackling one of the defining issues of our generation: the growing mental health crisis. The problem we're solving: 615 million people worldwide and 65 million Americans are diagnosed with a mental health condition, and yet 60% never get mental health support. There are three drivers of this "treatment gap": (1) the stigmatization of the health topic, (2) people don’t know where/how to access care, and (3) insurance constraints and a workforce shortage preclude too many people from being able to afford care. What we do: We're building a digital discovery marketplace (think Kayak.com or Expedia for discovering mental health services) -- to make it easier to find mental health care. We're building an unprecedented national anti-stigma and education campaign featuring celebrities -- to destigmatize mental health and meet millennials/Gen Z where they actually are. We're creating the first national standards for what businesses should do to better serve the mental health needs of their employees -- to expand availability of care.

This Pride Month (and every month), we're grateful to partner with OLLY PBC as we break down barriers to accessing mental health care. Mental health support shouldn't be a luxury—it should be accessible to everyone, especially our friends in the LGBTQ+ community.
OLLY is proud to partner with Project Healthy Minds in addressing the barriers that prevent too many people from finding mental health services they deserve. The work they do is especially important right now in the LGBTQ+ community, as studies have shown access to identity-affirming care is associated with mitigation of mental health disparities among transgender and nonbinary youth. At OLLY, we believe that everyone deserves access to mental health care. We’ve made it our mission to champion better wellbeing for all. And we know that can’t happen until we all get access to the care we need. That’s why we want to share that our friends at Project Healthy Minds built a free mental health marketplace—making it easier to find the right type of support for you. Through rigorous screening by world-class mental health clinicians, the platform takes all of the guesswork out of finding the care that you need, when you need it most.

What works for you, when it comes to your mental health? It’s an open-ended question that can be interpreted in thousands of different ways. Which is why we spent the month of May asking incredible leaders, artists, culture makers and community members what they do to actively take care of their mental health. Our main takeaway: Maintaining a healthy mind is not, and never was, a one size fits all approach. But we’re not stopping there. We’re going Beyond Awareness, Beyond May. But what we really want to know is: What works for you? And are you ready to go #BeyondAwareness? Get in touch to join the movement.

Project Healthy Minds, started by Phillip Schermer, is reimagining what a mental health nonprofit can be: tech-forward, culturally relevant, and backed by an unusually diverse set of donors — from Silicon Valley to Hollywood, corporate America to next-gen philanthropists. Why are so many people rallying around this one org? I spoke with Schermer, as well as donors Jeff Yabuki, former Fiserv CEO, and Kalen Jackson, Indianapolis Colts owner, to find out in my latest for Inside Philanthropy. #mentalhealth #youth #kickingthestigma https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gje39dKd

“We’re listening, we’re learning, and we’re sharing.” — Vincent Tizzio, CEO of AXIS (AXIS Capital), in conversation with our Founder & CEO, Phillip Schermer. A new AXIS (AXIS Capital) / The Harris Poll reveals that nearly 9 in 10 insurance professionals see widespread stress and anxiety across the industry. Mental health in the workplace isn’t just important — it’s essential. We’re having the conversations that matter — about how companies can better support employee mental health with real tools, thoughtful programs, and a culture of care.
