Salesforce (which owns Slack) recently updated its policy to restrict custom AI agents from accessing Slack data (I'll drop a link in the comments with the full details of the decision). My hunch is they won’t be the only ones. We may be entering a new phase of tension over enterprise data access. In my view, traditional systems of record have held a UI advantage for years — not just storing data, but acting as the primary interface for teams, helping justify continued investment. But AI seems to be shifting that dynamic. I believe that agents are improving at querying, summarizing, and acting on data directly — potentially making some traditional interfaces feel less essential. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more legacy vendors tighten access and frame it as a “security” decision. If you’re an AI founder relying on integrations with legacy platforms, I’d personally take this as a signal: now’s the time to start thinking about your own data strategy — before the walls get higher.

Pokemon card rarity In a move that probably won’t surprise anyone who knows me, I’ve been testing a new “deep research” ritual. I figured if I’m going to use tech constantly, I might as well make it more productive than scrolling through Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, email, and Slack on repeat without learning much of anything. Here’s what I do for anyone who wants to try it out: I end each day with a question—anything I’m trying to understand more deeply. Then I turn that question into a deep research query. When I’ve gathered enough information on a topic, I recap what I’ve learned and share it with anyone else who might find what I uncovered interesting. Curious what end-of-day rituals others have tested out. I’m always open to new suggestions.
