We received a very generous donation from McLane Company, Inc., and thanks to their support, we were able to help our good partners at the Osceola Council on Aging by delivering foam coolers to support their Meals on Wheels program. These coolers help keep meals fresh and safe for those who need them most—especially our seniors who count on daily nourishment and a friendly visit. We also delivered coolers to the Church & Community Assistance Program, extending that support even further across our community. This kind of impact is only possible through strong partnerships and shared dedication. On behalf of Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, we thank McLane Company, Inc. for helping us help others. Together, we’re making a difference!

Distracted driving puts you, your passengers, and everyone on the road at risk. Even a few seconds of inattention can have deadly consequences. Common distractions include: - Texting or using a phone - Eating or drinking - Adjusting the radio or GPS - Talking to passengers - Personal grooming Taking your eyes off the road for just 5 seconds at 55 mph is like driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed. Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office remind all drivers to stay alert, stay focused, and make safety their priority every time they get behind the wheel.

The 2025 Florida Sheriffs Association Summer Conference has officially ended after a successful time of collaboration, training, and a shared commitment to public safety. We were honored to serve as this year’s host agency and are proud to share that our very own Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon received the Host Sheriff Award, presented by the Florida Sheriffs Association in recognition of his leadership and support throughout the event. A huge thank you to the FSA committee for organizing such a meaningful and impactful conference, as well as to the government officials, guest speakers, vendors, and law enforcement leaders from across the state who helped make it a success. And of course, a special shoutout to our OCSO team, who not only worked tirelessly behind the scenes but represented our agency with pride and professionalism. 👏

Week 6 of our Basic Citizens Academy started with powerful presentations from our Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Unit, offering attendees a deeper understanding of how these sensitive cases are handled—with care, compassion, and professionalism. A special guest, our beloved Therapy K9 Murphy, and his handler brought smiles to the room while showcasing therapy dogs' critical support role during difficult times. Our Tourism Policing Unit shared how they help keep one of Florida’s most visited counties safe, ensuring residents and visitors enjoy positive, secure experiences throughout Osceola’s many attractions. Participants also heard from our TAC Unit, gaining insight into how these highly trained deputies respond to high-risk situations and deliver specialized support during critical incidents. It was another impactful session filled with valuable insights and a deeper appreciation for the dedicated teams who serve our community, both behind the scenes and on the front lines.

Day two of the FSA Summer Conference was another great day filled with meaningful connections and shared purpose. Law enforcement leaders from across the state came together to exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis addressed the attendees, delivering a strong message of support for the vital work we do every day. Our team had the opportunity to meet and greet with him, and Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon also engaged in a productive conversation with Attorney General James Uthmeier. At our agency’s display table, we were honored to welcome Sheriff Wayne Ivey from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and K9 Saint, as well as spend time with Sheriff Morris Young from the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. The day was a powerful reminder of the collaboration and unity that drive our mission forward.

Earlier today, a senseless act of violence in a Midtown Manhattan office building took the life of a New York Police Officer and at least two others. On behalf of Sheriff Christopher A. Blackmon and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the New York Police Department and all law enforcement officers mourning this devastating loss. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with the officer’s family, colleagues, and the community they bravely served.
