I'm thrilled to be at The White House today, pledging to a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services initiative, designed to connect care, prevention, and technology in a way that can benefit millions of patients. At Noom, we’ve seen how empowering people with healthy habits and ‘food as medicine’ can transform lives. Working as part of the CMS ecosystem enables us to scale that approach across America – making healthcare more personalized, proactive, and accessible for everyone. Today, an ecosystem gathered to unlock the full potential of modern digital health, by improving accessibility and portability of health data by patients, while not compromising safety. Most of the major health systems, EHRs, Payers, and AI companies signed the pledge. Because our mission is to empower everyone, everywhere to live better longer, we also pledged today to launch a free tier of Noom to all Americans, regardless of income or BMI, before the end of summer, answering CMS’s call to move faster toward accessible solutions. The free tier of Noom is designed to motivate everyone to adopt healthy habits related to nutrition, movement, and stress-management, and will be personalized to each member, regardless of weight. Improving public health in the US will take an ecosystem, because it isn’t just a medical challenge—it’s a behavioral one. Life expectancy in the US lags other developed countries. Rates of chronic disease, including obesity, lead other countries. What's needed is fresh thinking on nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle. Noom believes healthcare means more than managing disease. By combining behavior science, psychology, and digital health with the latest advances in artificial intelligence, Noom will provide a personalized microhabits program equally accessible to Americans in rural and urban locations alike. Our work with CMS complements our broader commercial strategy. Noom is already partnering with leading health plans and employers to deliver scalable behavior change programs that lower costs, improve outcomes, and close care gaps. By embedding our approach within the CMS Health Tech Ecosystem, it’s an opportunity to align incentives across payers, providers, and patients, and to bring the full potential of behavior change. CMS provides the infrastructure and clear standards, and companies provide creative tech and user-friendly tools. It means you can pull up your medical history on your phone and avoid redundant paperwork at the doctor’s office, and know when you're talking to an AI and know that it has the context on your health. Noom could not be more excited to embrace CMS’s vision for a connected digital health ecosystem. As Joe G. noted today, these companies gathered in the spirit of solving hard problems by bringing sophisticated data standards and user-facing design into the design desert that is medical record keeping and access. Thank you to Amy Gleason and Arda Kara for their leadership.
