It’s more than just a fresh coat of paint—it’s a fresh sense of home. Last week, the incredible team from Aalberts surface technologies rolled up their sleeves and brought new life to the Kresge building on our campus. But their impact goes far beyond the walls—they helped create a space where our youth feel seen, supported, and at home. At MCHS, community is built through moments of care like this. Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and heart with us. The comfort and dignity you helped bring to our campus will be felt by every child, family, and older adult who walks through those doors.

When Marissa entered our Transitional Housing program, she came with one goal: build a better future for herself. From day one, she was focused, driven, and ready to put in the work. With support from our case management team, Marissa secured critical documents like her ID and benefits, and worked closely with our employment specialist to land not one but two jobs. And in June 2025, she achieved what she’d been working toward all along: the keys to her very own apartment. Marissa’s story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets opportunity. We’re so proud of her strength and grateful to be part of her journey toward independence.

Two generations, one wild adventure! 🐾 Our youth in foster care and amazing seniors from our Foster Grandparent Program shared a beautiful day of bonding and discovery at the Detroit Zoo. From giraffes to hydration breaks, laughter and connection were everywhere—even in the summer heat! Moments like these remind us that community knows no age. Our young people shared how much they enjoyed exploring the zoo and building relationships with the older adults who walk beside them with care and encouragement. A heartfelt thank you to Michigan Health Endowment Fund for making this special experience possible. Your partnership powers meaningful intergenerational connection—and helps create memories that last far beyond one summer day
