We are thrilled to share that the nation's first-ever environmental health specialist apprenticeship program has been approved by the Maryland Apprenticeship Training Council! Apprentices will serve in paid public health positions with the Maryland Department of Health while also earning a bachelor's degree from Morgan State University. MD Labor Secretary Portia Wu joined Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Employment Development Director MacKenzie Garvin to check out the awesome hands-on learning happening through CodeWorks (Code in the Schools). This 5-week program, part of the city's YouthWorks program, gets students on the path to careers in tech. Kudos to the fantastic instructors nurturing these curious minds!

Today we announced the official launch of our Cyber Workforce Accelerator (CWA) Workforce Development (WFD) Program, opening doors for Marylanders to high-demand careers in cybersecurity. The WFD program is fully funded by the Maryland Department of Labor to train 1,100 Maryland residents at no cost to participants. This program is delivered virtually with no in-person attendance required and consists of BCR Cyber’s Security Operations Center (SOC operations Analyst I (SOCOA I) Training and Certification. 🎉A new group of graduates finished their apprenticeship training with the Association of Air Conditioning Professionals Over the past 37 years, AACP has prepared more than 665 apprentices for thriving careers in the HVAC industry. Through hundreds of hours of classroom training and thousands of hours of hands-on training, they're strengthening a vital part of Maryland's workforce. A huge congratulations to these 29 graduates!
