🎬 ✨When Superman Met Skylight: A Heroic Restoration🌟✨ “Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.” But not all heroes wear capes. Some wear hard hats... While Superman may have soared through the Arcade’s iconic concourse in the cinematic climax of this summer’s biggest blockbuster, our team at Marous Brothers Construction relied on a different kind of superpower—craftsmanship, ingenuity, and a whole lot of scaffolding during its comprehensive rehabilitation from 1999 to 2001. 🏗️ We’re proud to have played a key role in restoring and remodeling this National Historic Landmark over multiple decades and phases. Working alongside LR Development and Sandvick Architects in the original $30 million renovation in the late '90s, our team transformed the long-neglected Arcade—preserving its 300-foot glass skylight, brass fixtures, custom storefronts, and marble finishes while integrating modern systems with care and precision. During the skylight restoration, our tradespeople erected a seven-story indoor scaffold to reach the skylight’s underside, while others scaled ladders on the roof to restore its skyward face. All this, while crews below removed century-old columns and excavated the basement to create a more open, modern space. The Arcade’s starring role on the big screen is a reminder of the power of preservation—and the timeless beauty of Cleveland’s built environment. 🎥💫 #MarousBrothersConstruction #HistoricPreservation #TheArcadeCLE #SupermanInCLE #TeamMarous #NotAllHeroesWearCapes #45YearsOfBuildingExcellence (Superman image courtesy of DC Entertainment)
