On July 10, the newest ships in our Galápagos fleet—National Geographic Gemini and National Geographic Delfina—were officially named in a heartfelt ceremony that was rooted in community, purpose and pride. This special day, which brought all four ships in the fleet together for the first time, honored multigenerational members of the Galápagos community and celebrated Lindblad Expeditions’ nearly 60-year commitment and connection to these extraordinary islands. “Together, we named these two ships not just in ceremony, but in promise—a promise to listen, to learn, to protect, to honor this special place and to carry forward Lindblad Expeditions’ mission,” said CEO Natalya Leahy who was on hand for the dual naming. In this video, watch some of the day’s top moments as you learn more about this momentous celebration.

In a deeply symbolic ceremony rooted in community, purpose, and pride, the two newest National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions ships in the Galápagos fleet were officially named today—National Geographic Delfina and National Geographic Gemini. Members of the shipboard teams and their children were honored during the bottle-breaking ceremony, underscoring Lindblad Expeditions’ long-standing commitment to the local community and dedication to preserving and protecting the region for generations to come. The dual naming ceremony took place in the heart of the Galápagos archipelago—Academy Bay—where members of the shipboard teams and their children, Lindblad Expeditions leadership, guests, local dignitaries, and multigenerational Galápagos community members gathered to witness the ceremonial christening of the ships.
